The Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market is planning on hosting a Long Table Feast on Sunday, August 18th from noon to 2 pm or until the food runs out and anticipate 500 to 1000 attendees.
Our focus is to contact and invite the residents and families of the St. Teresa of Calcutta school. This is an inner-city school that runs year-round. The plan is to have students take home an invitation inviting their families to attend this outdoor Feast on 96 St between 103 A Ave and 102 Ave and will run concurrently with our farmers market on 103 Ave between 97 Street and 96 Street.
The Chinese Benevolent Society, 25 local Chinese restaurants and suppliers are donating and cooking most of the food for this event. Products served will include; BBQ pork, sausages, rice, noodles, spring rolls, onion cakes, soya sauce chicken and buns. The Boyle Street Community League is also a sponsor. The EDFM will augment the meal with salad greens, vegetables and fruit from our vendors at the market.
This event is part of a celebration of Alberta Local Food Week held from August 11 – 18th.
More details to come.
